GABE board members are elected annually at the beginning of each academic year.
I am a 3rd year PhD student studying encrypted peptide antibiotics in the de la Fuente Lab. I grew up in Michigan, where I earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Albion College. I'm excited to continue my time in GABE leadership working alongside Carlos to be a helpful resource for all graduate bioengineers!
I am originally from San Gabriel, CA and I did my Bachelors at UC San Diego before moving to Philly for my PhD where my research focuses on the epigenetic regulation of T cells. I am excited to help lead another year of programming for the students and am happy to be a resource on Penn, the BE program, research or more if people have questions.
I am a first-year Master’s student in Bioengineering at Penn. My research interests focus on cardiovascular genetics, and I’m also serving on the board of the Master’s Association of Bioengineers this year. I’m excited to meet everyone and get more involved with the community!
I am a dual-degree doctoral student in Bioengineering–Medical Physics and Master in Law candidate at the University of Pennsylvania, working across Radiology and Radiation Oncology. My research focuses on clinically grounded AI for medical imaging, oncology, and global health.
We know that early detection of cancer improves patients' quality of life and that there is a marker (cfDNA) in your body fluids, specifically blood, that can be used to detect cancer. Unfortunately, using this marker in blood does not work for all cancers, so I am studying cfDNA in other body fluids.
