About us

The Graduate Association of Bioengineers (GABE) represents and connects graduate students in Penn Bioengineering. We advocate for students with the department and the university, and we build a community where BE grad students can thrive both in and out of the lab.

Every full- or part-time graduate student in Bioengineering is automatically a member of GABE.

Advocacy: We are the formal voice of BE graduate students, with a voting seat on the Graduate Group Committee and representation in the School of Engineering's graduate student government.

Community: From the fall welcome picnic to Halloween pumpkin carving, happy hours, intramurals, and the holiday party, we create spaces to connect beyond research. 

Professional growth: We organize student–faculty luncheons on career topics and take part in interdepartmental seminars to support students' next steps.
